dirty mind? cheat clean: paleo approved dessert and snack list

I want to have a good body, but not as much as I want chocolate – Jason Love.

For the majority of my life, I thought about exactly those two things, but the other way around: I would like this piece of chocolate, but is it worth to enjoy a treat for 20 seconds and not be happy with my body? Now I know – complete B-S.

According to #YOLO, you actually only live once and I pushed myself towards my fitness and health goals within the past months,  but also to include regular treats into my paleo diet and enjoy the sweet things in life. But keep one thing in mind: MODERATION.

Stevia Stracciatella Ice CreamOr if moderation is not in your dictionary, opt for clean desserts and snacks – because some of us simply need their daily dose of chocolate or other sweet flavours. Just try to incoporate the healthy versions of it, they are way better than the industrial treats anyway and at the end it is more enjoyable, because you neither have to feel guilty nor deprived.

To be honest, I am a snacker – I love nibbling on little dishes, because it keeps my energy levels up and it can also stop cravings or prevent binging.

So, today I wanted to share some of my favorite clean dessert options, which keep my dirty mind clean and make me happy*

Fresh (low GI) fruits like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, avocado, paraguayos, grapefruit …)

Kale or Seaweed Chips

Plantain Chips (sweet or savory)

Chia Seed Pudding/ Protein Flaxmeal Pudding (recipes soon on the blog)

Dark Chocolate (75% and more) *is proved to be natural mood booster

Mixed (unsalted) Nuts, e.g. Almonds, Cashews, Pistacios

Greek Yoghurt with Berries or Paleo Granola

Clean Powerbars (after a workout), e.g. Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie, Strawberry Cheese Cake

Roasted Coconut Flakes

Fluffy Chocolate Avocado Bites

Avocado Pudding

Protein Cheese Cake

Stevia-sweetened Ice Cream

A regular snacker like myself opts best for 1 or 2 servings of one of the above mentioned dessert options a day. And since going low-carb paleo at the beginning of 2015, I have never felt a real sweet tooth craving anyway – only dark chocolate makes it almost irresitable for me to get more than the recommended serving size.

Then again – I tell myself – live a little. Because nobody ever died of chocolate.
